MM2H
MM2H (Malaysia My Second Home)
Malaysia is My Second Home (MM2H) programme is promoted by the Malaysian government to allow foreigners to stay in Malaysia. A renewable multiple-entry social visit pass is issued, initially for 10 years.
The programme is open to all countries recognised by Malaysia regardless of race, religion, gender or age. Applicant’s spouses and unmarried children below age 21 (dependents) are allowed entry.
Benefits
Educations
Applicants are allowed to bring their children below age 21 that are not married (dependents). Children can apply for a student pass while for those above age 17, a special approval is required. Student pass is obtained with help of the school upon enrolment. The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (http://www.mohe.gov.my ) holds a comprehensive list of Malaysian private institutions.
Income Tax
Though participants are bound by Malaysian policies, systems and regulations of taxes, MM2H visa holders enjoy tax exemption benefits in Malaysia under the Double Tax Treaty Agreement Countries. Income tax is charged on a territory basis instead of on a worldwide scope basis.
Registering of Business
MM2H participants are allowed to register a business incorporated in Malaysia. Guidelines for incorporation of a Malaysia company obtained with Companies Commission of Malaysia.
Domestic Helper
MM2H applicants are allowed to apply for one domestic help (maids from their home country) as permitted by Immigration Department, Malaysia. If they need a second domestic helper, the application will be approved on a case by case basis depending on the merits of the applicants.
Bringing in Pets
Participants could check with the Veterinary Import Regulation to confirm his/her pet can be brought into Malaysia (http://www.dvs.gov.my). Once confirmed, they could undergo the process in bringing the pet through the same department.
Requirements Upon Application
- To provide latest 3 months bank statement as proof of liquid assets worth minimum RM500,000.00
- Offshore income of RM10,000 per month.
- Letter of Good Conduct from Police Department / Security Agencies from applicant’s country or domicile country; or the Embassy / Consulate of the applicant’s origin country in Malaysia or in other country; or Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia.
Note: For China nationals, original LOGC translated by Notary Public in China must be certified by the following agencies:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China; AND
- Embassy or Consulate of Malaysia in China AND
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (Wisma Putra, Putrajaya – Consular Division) – To confirm if Consular Officer at Consulate of Malaysia who certifies the LOGC is still in service and has the authority to certify the document
- To provide 3 months bank statements as proof of liquid assets worth minimum RM350,000.00
- Offshore income of RM10,000 per month. For government pensioners, they can show proof of receiving pension of minimum RM10,000 per month.
- Letter of Good Conduct from Police Department / Security Agencies from applicant’s country or domicile country; or the Embassy / Consulate of the applicant’s country of origin in Malaysia or in other country; or Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia.
Note: For China nationals, original LOGC translated by Notary Public in China must be certified by the following agencies:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China; AND
- Embassy or Consulate of Malaysia in China AND
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (Wisma Putra, Putrajaya – Consular Division) – To confirm if Consular Officer at Consulate of Malaysia who certifies the LOGC is still in service and has the authority to certify the document
MM2H APPLICATION AND PROCESS
Applicants are expected to be financially capable of supporting themselves while under the MM2H programme in Malaysia.
Requirements Upon Approval
- Open a fixed deposit account of RM300,000.00
- After one year, the participant can withdraw up to RM150,000 for approved expenses e.g., house and car purchases, children’s education (Malaysia) and medical expenses.
- Maintain a minimum of RM150,000 from second year onwards in Malaysia under MM2H programme.
- Participants must open Fixed Deposit account at any bank registered with Bank Negara Malaysia.
- All participants and their dependents will submit Medical Report from any private hospital or registered clinic in Malaysia.
- Approved participants and their dependents need valid medical insurance coverage applicable in Malaysia from any insurance company.
- Licensed companies need to provide Personal Bond for their clients approved under the MM2H programme.
Immigration Endorsement Fee
- MM2H Social Visit Pass Fee at RM90 per person (one year)
- Journey Performed Visa at RM500 each where applicable (if no Calling Visa issued from home country)
- Multiple Entry Visa between RM0 to RM50 per year depending on applicants citizenship
- Open a fixed deposit account of RM150,000.00
- After one year, the participant can withdraw up to RM50,000.00 for approved expenses e.g., house and car purchases, children’s education (Malaysia) and medical expenses.
- Maintain a minimum of RM100,000 from the second year onwards in Malaysia under MM2H programme.
